What Is MOPS?

MOPS® stands for “Mothers Of PreSchoolers,” and applies to mothers with children between birth and age 6.  MOPS is a Christian organization that believes mothers are important.  Mothering matters, and moms need help.  MOPS is where you will find encouragement, practical tips for surviving the preschool years, friends and nurturing.

The MOPS theme for 2012-2013 is: Plunge: Love as if your life depended on it.

Taking the plunge in relationships is being authentic and going deeper. In a MOPS group, relationships offer hope to moms, especially as moms go deeper and take risks to create authentic community. All facets of relationships can be strengthened through taking risks, going deeper and showing authentic love — in the neighborhood, friendships, marriage, extended family, the world around us and ultimately relationship with God.

Theme Verse: 1 Peter 4:8-11 (The Message) “Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless — cheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God’s words; if help, let it be God’s hearty help. That way, God’s bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he’ll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything — encores to the end of time. Oh, yes!”

Giving Back

As part of the 2012-2013 Theme, MOPS Des Plaines will be reaching out to help women locally and globally. MOPS is committed to using our Prayer, Influence and Giving to fight abuse toward women and children, specifically trafficking here and abroad. MOPS will be working with Women in Need Growing Stronger (WINGS), Bright Hope and the Salvation Army STOP It program. Check back for a  list of fundraising and other events that we have planned for this year.
